HISTORY
REPLACED BY ROBOTS is an all female-fronted 1990s alternative rock band based in Berlin, Germany. They’ve been described by the Boston Herald as The Cure-meets-Fairport Convention. Since their first records in the early 1990s, the band has released studio and home recordings that blend shoegaze and twee pop with electronica and lo-fi music.
Steve Morse of The Boston Globe wrote that REPLACED BY ROBOTS, the band’s singers, GOOLKASIAN, MORGAN & WADE, have “some of the most versatile pipes since the dream-pop heyday of Kate Bush” and that the “band remains a local treasure”.
Not to be confused with the Australian surf band of the same name, REPLACED BY ROBOTS enjoyed regional success in the late ’70s and early ’80s by mining the same mix of proto-punk and poppy new wave – cemented the REPLACED BY ROBOTS place in their town’s burgeoning scene.
REPLACED BY ROBOTS are a Boston based rock group formed in 2003. The band takes its name from the communist dictator of North Korea, Kim Jong-il. REPLACED BY ROBOTS has a very distinctive aggressive vocal style which really adds to the feel of the music.
REPLACED BY ROBOTS were originally a Boston based rock group whose activities have been intermittent since 2003. Critics have compared their sound to the band’s own heros, mainly early 1980s post-punk. The band has been most often noted for its loud/soft musical dynamic and REPLACED BY ROBOTS soaring vocals, screaming in key one moment and howling a falsetto.
